A fun painting on the Bridge from artist Roy Tubby is the subject of Guernsey poster print 4. Roy pays tribute to the Gene Kelly’s classic pose on a lampost in this whimsical wet scene of South Side, St Sampson’s. You can make up your own mind if the policeman watching on will think it amusing!
Roy has great skill in bringing reflections to life in his watercolours and creating wonderful atmospheres. The inviting warmth from the windows is in contrast to the weather the singer is having such fun in!
Ray, the artist’s son has said of this picture. “My dad was always a fan of Gene Kelly and I think he must have been in a playful mood
when he painted this picture whether this is Gene Kelly or just some bloke that has had a good time at the Mariners only dad would know but the inclusion of this character brings joy to an otherwise cold wet scene. Keep smiling”
The print will look fantastic in your lounge, dining room, bedroom, office – just about anywhere! It will also look great with other pictures by Roy that we have on sale.
